Spiritual Formations: 2PT1-10

Jon Kopp with Guest Lecturers: Beth Kopp and Paul Campbell

This class will explore the process by which the image of Christ is formed in believers through the work of the Spirit by means of the spiritual disciplines. It will include a guided reading and discussion of The Discipline of Grace by Jerry Bridges as well as selected articles. Particular focus will be given to the importance of the Word, prayer, and fellowship as channels through which God delivers grace to his people. At the conclusion of this course, students should understand and embrace how believers grow spiritually. The hands-on learning component of this class will involve the development of a spiritual disciplines plan, the implementation of it for a month, and formal feedback to another student on the challenges, benefits, and intended modifications for continued use.

- What is the place of discipline in the Christian life?
- Why is prayer important? Do I have to read my Bible everyday?
- What is and isn’t a Biblical spiritual discipline?
- How can I pursue God when I’m so busy?
- How can I be disciplined without being legalistic? How do I guard against legalism in the midst of seeking Christ?
- How Can I Make and Keep a Habit?

• One pre-approved excused absence per class. All course requirements must be completed before being eligible for the next course.
